Phnom Pehn, Siem Reap, Sihanoukville - Cambodia 2017 travel booked!

Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.

// I'm extatic! Already two years ago the talk about a travel to Cambodia started and now, finally, it has been realized! In the summer of 2017 I'm going to Cambodia to explore and travel around the country!
There are seven of us travelling together and the reason for the travel and this specific destination is because my dad's fiancée is turning 60 and she is in love with Cambodia. She has visited Cambodia several times before and really wanted us all in the family to go there with her and my dad.
We'll be flying through Bangkok and begin our stay at Terasse des Elefhantés (it does not have real life elephants, it was my first question to, haha) in Siem Reap. The photos of the hotelrooms below are the exact rooms we'll be staying in, one even has in in-door oasis with live, free geckos - how cool is that!
While in Siem Reap we are going to visit the ruins of the old buddhist temples, Angkor Wat, which was rediscovered and excavated as late as in 1992!
After that the journey continues by bus down the country to the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Pehn. Here we will go and see the royal palace as well as go on a day-trip out in to the countryside and see Killing Fields. It's the area where millions of kmers (Cambodian people) was beat to death during the rule of the mad dictator Pol Potts at the late 1970's (to learn more about the historia of Cambodia I suggest you watch the documentary "Killing Fields"). I would also like to visit a children's orphanage and the more poor parts of Cambodia to experience and getting a better understanding for how people are able to live and survive without the luxuries us Swedes enjoy.
After Phnom Pehn we travel through the jungle down to the coast of Cambodia and Sihanoukville. Here we'll be staying at a resort on the beaches to experience the simpler lifestyle of Cambodia and rest up on the beach.
Lastly, we travel back to Phnom Pehn and stay for a few days before flying back home again.
I can't begin to explain how excited I am about this journey! To discover new countries and new cultures is something I truly love and appreciate. Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.
Oh, looking forward to this journey so, so much!

(The first seven photos in this article was taken by my dad on his latest visit to Cambodia, the rest of the pictures I found on google, searching for: Cambodia, Terrasse des Elefhantés, Siem Reap, Phnom Pehn and Sihanoukville).
